My New Friend’s Name is Cancer
I’ve a new friend and her name is cancer. Well, perhaps I am moving a bit too quickly. My new acquaintance might be a better way of putting it.
We just met yesterday for the first time, at least officially. I believe she has been hanging around for a bit longer though, hiding in the dark crevices.
To be honest, I’m not at all sure what I think of her at this point. She was a bit quiet to begin with but she has gotten louder and louder as time has been passing. She can be a bit pushy, too, overstepping her boundaries and spreading herself all over.
Okay, Not Really My Friend
So the fact is that I don’t like her at all. She is pushy and takes over and doesn’t take no for an answer. I tell her to leave my presence but she just laughs and does that kid thing where they stick their fingers in their ears and in that sing songy voice say “I can’t hear you; I can’t hear you!” And all I want to do is kick her narcissistic ass to the curb!
So like that nasty aunt who comes for a visit and you can’t seem to get rid of her, I need to find a way to get her the hell out of Dodge! I’m pretty sure the first line of attack will be to take all her belongs and everything she has touched and just throw it out! There may be some clean up after that.
Do I Need to Befriend Her?
But I have to admit, I’m also wondering if it might suit me to…gulp!…look to make her my friend. Like, as in befriend her! Hell, I don’t even know her name yet but she has become my mortal enemy. As in literally. My mortal enemy.
How To Treat the Enemy?
I have to decide which way will work better for me and this new acquaintance – hating her and just crassly getting rid of her or becoming friends and showing her that she is hurting me by being so close. I will have to consider starting to talk with her about herself first so I can get to know her. I will have to start with her name.
Her name is cancer – the squatter in my body. Thinks she owns the place and doesn’t want to leave! Guess I have to find a way to kick her outta here!
